Stumptown Coffee Roasters Tasting Room in Red Hook, Brooklyn

Today we ran over to Stumptown Coffee Roasters tasting room in Red Hook even though we are super busy with the making of Nightmare Haunted House and Diego's new school schedule.  We just had to check out the new Stumptown Coffee bar that officially opened this week.  Stumptown Coffee tasting room is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am-3pm.

Come taste some pour over coffee made by the experts or shop for your bag of recently roasted coffee.  There is a slew of coffee gadgets and tools to choose from to brew the best cup of coffee at home.

Espresso is not served here at this store (unlike the Ace Hotel).   They do however sell it in prepackaged jars.  The goal at the Red Hook tasting room is to show people how to make great coffee when they are at home, since that is where many drinkers make it.  Please note: there is no milk or sugar here.
Stumptown Coffee Roasters is located at 219 Van Brunt Street at Commerce Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn.   http://www.stumptowncoffee.com/locations/redhook-tasting

Find The Coffeebeaners At Nightmare Haunted House in New York City

If you visit the coffeebeaners often, you will have seen that Diego and I have not been at many coffee shops lately. Fall is the busiest time for us because we are preparing for Nightmare Haunted House in New York City. Timothy, Diego's dad, is the creator and director of this theatrical scare. This is the time when I become a single mom for two months and a filmmaker, documenting the creation of the house. Here is a super short video that I worked on, check it out!

We will be doing blog posts but they will be short and sweet during this time. For more information on Nightmare Haunted House visit: WWW.NIGHTMARENEWYORK.COM.

Champs Family Bakery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Champs Family Bakery is perfect for a quick stop with friends.  Enter the place where it feels a bit like the 1950's and grab a yummy vegan goodie, soda pop, gimme! iced coffee or ice cream.  They have cookie flavors like rocky road, snicker doodle as well as carrot cupcakes, and gluten-free options too.  The owners, Brad Baker and Megan Blackburn also own the great coffee shop, Boneshakers that we covered a few weeks ago.
Champs Family Bakery is located at 176 Ainslie at Leonard.

Second Stop Cafe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

When you are having that craving for Belgian waffles, come to Second Stop Café in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  They serve them made to order with sweet butter and Vermont Maple syrup and they are delectable!  But come before noon, otherwise you will have to fight for a seat!  Sometimes locals crowd up the place with or without laptops so be prepared to settle for a bench seat outside (don’t worry, it gets a refreshing breeze amongst the Ainslie street side shade).

They serve Stumptown coffee all day long and all baked goods are made in house by Merrin Frazier.  We hear that the donut muffin is amazing.
For lunch you can grab a homemade mozzarella, tomato, basil, and balsamic vinegar sandwich or one of their special daily salads.    The one I saw sounded outstanding: kale, lemon, carrot, cucumber, sea salt, olive oil, scallions, and tomato with raspberry vinaigrette ($7).
We recommend this place for the same reason that others love it: fresh air, music, Johnny Depp's old fireplace, a community feeling, and great coffee.   This plus the old books and carpets all give you a feeling of culture and comfort.
Second Stop Café is located at 524 Lorimer, at the corner of Ainslie.  Take the L Train to Lorimer.  (718)486-6850

Saltie in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Saltie started selling Crop to Cup coffee in Williamsburg over a year ago and it is because everyone who sells quick bites and sweet treats has to sell top quality coffee these days.   From sandwich shops, cupcake places, cookies stores to ice cream joints and trucks, everyone is realizing that if you are selling to-go food of any kind, you need to sell good coffee.  Here is an adorable little sandwich and pastry shop that I bumped into.  It is perfect for a coffee and delicious pastry on your way to the L in South Williamsburg.
Saltie is located at 378 Metropolitan Avenue between North Havemeyer & Union.
